The Petrified Pootle is a Halloween series running event held on 23rd October 2026 at Pengethley Manor, Ross-on-Wye (what3words: physical.growth.shelf). Entrants choose one target distance and must complete it within a seven hour time limit. Distances available include:
- 5k (2 laps)
- 10k
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- Ultra
Entry fees listed are: Race Entry £29.00; Virtual UK Entry £25.00; Virtual Overseas Entry £39.00. All entry fees are non refundable. Entrants must be aged 18 or over. A charity option offers entry for £10.00 provided the entrant commits to raising at least twice that amount for the nominated charity and raises the funds at least four weeks before the event. Entries may be deferred for £15.00 up to four weeks before the event.
Course, medals and virtual options
The course is off‑road and contained within the grounds of Pengethley Manor. Each lap measures 2.5 km and includes a hill on every lap plus a series of up and downs through two vineyards. The event is open to walkers and runners. Race bibs are collected at registration; virtual entrants receive a personalised virtual bib by email. Paid virtual entrants can receive the same type of medal as race finishers; medals are Halloween themed and may be supplied in green or orange depending on availability. Free virtual participation is possible via the organiser’s Strava club, but free entries do not receive a medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
