The Petrified Pootle takes place on 23rd October 2026 at Pengethley Manor, Ross-on-Wye (what3words: physical.growth.shelf). Entrants choose from the following distances:

  • 5k (two laps of 2.5k)
  • 10k
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • Ultra

The course is offroad and contained within the grounds of Pengethley Manor. Each lap is 2.5k. The route includes a hill on every lap and a series of up-and-down sections that pass through two vineyards. The event is described as suitable for walkers and runners. There is a seven-hour overall time limit to complete the chosen distance.

Entries, medals and rules

Race bibs are collected at on-site registration; virtual entrants receive a personalised virtual bib by email, usually within a day or two. Race and virtual medals are the same type and may be supplied in green or orange depending on availability. Paid virtual entrants receive medals after run verification; a free virtual option is available that records results but does not include a medal.

Entry fees are non-refundable. Listed fees are: Race Entry £29.00, Virtual UK Entry £25.00, Virtual Overseas Entry £39.00. A charity option is available for a reduced £10 entry if the entrant commits to raising at least twice that amount for the nominated charity, with funds raised at least four weeks before the event. Trail runs nearby

Run a scenic, traffic free 6.5 mile (about 10K) lap of Croome Park with a big hill to start and finish. Trail shoes are recommended and all finishers receive medals and goody bags.
