The Petrified Pootle

The Petrified Pootle is an offroad running event held within the grounds of Pengethley Manor, Ross-on-Wye (what3words: physical.growth.shelf). The course uses 2.5 km laps and includes a hill on each lap plus a series of up and downs that pass through two vineyards. The organiser describes the route as physically demanding and entirely offroad.

Entrants choose their target distance from the following options:

  • 5k (2 laps)
  • 10k
  • Half Marathon
  • Marathon
  • Ultra

Participants have a fixed time limit of seven hours to complete their chosen distance. The event is described as suitable for walkers and runners. Race bibs are collected at registration on the day; virtual entrants receive a personalised virtual bib by email, usually before the event date.

Medals for the Halloween series are themed around ghosts, witches and Halloween and may be supplied in green or orange. Race and virtual medals are the same type. Paid virtual entries receive a medal once the run is verified; free virtual participation is recorded on the results list but does not include a medal. International postage for medals incurs an additional cost.

Entry fees are non refundable. A charity entry option is available for a reduced entry fee of £10 subject to fundraising requirements. Entrants must be aged 18 or over and are responsible for ensuring their fitness and safety on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
