The More Miles Last One Standing Challenge

Knoxville, United States • 30 May 2026

Event Overview

The More Miles Last One Standing Challenge is a backyard-style ultramarathon. The format requires participants to complete a fixed-distance loop, known as a "yard," every hour on the hour for as long as they are able.

Event Format and Distances

The event has two distances, run under the same hourly format:

  • 4.167-Mile Event: The standard "yard" distance. It is an official qualifier event for the Backyard Ultra world championship. Participants must finish this loop within each hour to continue.
  • 1-Mile Event: This event runs for 24 hours before a tie-breaker protocol begins, where an additional mile is added each subsequent hour.

How It Works

This is a "last one standing" competition. The race ends when only one participant remains who can complete their yard within the allotted hour. The winner of each distance is the last person capable of finishing a loop. Participants can choose to stop after any completed hour.

Additional Information

All participants receive an event t-shirt. Prize money is awarded to the top two finishers in the 4.167-mile event, with the amount based on their total miles run. The event is located in Knoxville, Maryland, at 1600 Harpers Ferry Rd. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
