Registration closes on May 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Registrants who register by April 20, 2026 are guaranteed a t-shirt size; shirts are provided to all challengers while supplies last. The organizer states that no refunds are available. Prize money will be awarded to two top challengers; each may earn an amount equal to their total official race miles. Official race miles only count toward prizes.

Race format and distances

The event uses a backyard ultra format. Each lap, or "yard," must be completed before the hour ends. Participants who complete the yard may continue into the next hour. The last person who completes a yard within the hour is the winner. The 1-mile event runs for 24 hours, then uses a tie-breaker where each additional hour adds one mile until one participant remains.

Distances:

  • 4.167 miles - official backyard yard course
  • 1 mile - scaled backyard format, runs 24 hours then tie-breaker

The 4.167-mile event serves as a qualifier for the Backyard Ultra world championship. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
