The More Miles Last One Standing Challenge is scheduled for May 30, 2026, in Knoxville, MD, at 1600 Harpers Ferry Rd. This is the 7th annual running of the event. Registration closes on Thu, May 28, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. All challengers receive a shirt; registrants who sign up by April 20, 2026 are guaranteed their t-shirt size. The event does not offer refunds.

Prize money is offered for both the Last One Standing Champion and the Assist. The top two challengers can earn their total official race miles in cash. Only official race miles count toward prize money.

Race format and distances

The event uses the backyard ultra format: a fixed lap distance is run once each hour, and participants who complete the lap within the hour continue into the next hour. The winner is the last participant able to complete the lap in the allotted hour.

Distances offered:

  • 4.167 miles backyard event (official yard, qualifier for Backyard Ultra world championship)
  • 1 mile backyard event (runs for 24 hours, then adds one mile per additional hour as tie-breaker)

Run the scenic Breeze Thru the Trees at Ruppert Nurseries in Gaithersburg, where a 5K and 1 mile fun run wind through a tree farm. Proceeds benefit the Montgomery County Children's Opportunity Alliance and early childhood programs.
