Blue Crab Bolt Trail Run at Schaeffer Farms

The event takes place at Button Farm Living History Center in Germantown, MD and uses the maintained Schaeffer Farms trail network. Trails feature twisty single track, stream crossings, log ramps, some hills, and open farm field running. The course is moderately technical with rocky and rooty sections, and it begins and ends at the Button Farm staging area off Black Rock Road.

• 5K
• 10K (about 6.7 miles)

Elevation gain is listed as 230 feet for the 5K and 450 feet for the 10K. Portable restrooms are available at the start and finish and near mile 1.8 for both distances. Registration fees include race operations, free race photos, volunteer support, aid stations, medical support, post race food, music, awards, and event swag. Race medals are available as an optional add on with a reduced pre order price and a higher on site price; completing the full series awards a special medal.

Key race rules require bibs to be visible on the front, ban in ear headphones and pets, and disallow pacers and baby strollers on course. Outside assistance is permitted only within 50 meters of aid stations. There are no cut off times. Racers must stay on designated trails, respect others and the environment, and notify officials if they drop out.

Parking and staging are on the farm fields behind the farmhouse. Button Farm is private and not open to the public outside designated events; participants should drive slowly because animals may roam near the farmhouse. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
