The Maverick Chilterns Trail 2026

The Maverick Chilterns Trail takes place on 11 July 2026 at Princes Risborough School in Buckinghamshire. The route runs through ancient beech woodland, ridge lines and chalk downs with views across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. The course links sections of the Ridgeway and Chiltern Way and passes through villages, bridleways and singletrack.

Outpost provision varies by route: none on Short and Middle, one on the Half Marathon, four on the Marathon and five on the 50k Ultra. Outposts provide sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink. There will not be pre-filled water cups so runners should carry a reusable cup or bottle and use self-serve water barrels.

Cut off limits are specified for the longer routes with 8 hours 30 minutes to complete the 50k Ultra and 8 hours for the Marathon. The event is not dog friendly and dogs are not allowed at the school venue.

Recommended equipment for all runners includes at least one litre of water, a raincoat, a foil blanket and a mobile phone. Mandatory kit for the 50k Ultra and Marathon includes a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, 800 calories of food, minimum one litre of water, foil blanket, whistle, self-adhering bandage, cap or buff, a reusable cup and a GPX of the route. A 7 hour lap-based time challenge along the River Thames at Wraysbury with flexible self-paced distances from 3 km up to 50 km, signed course, aid stations, medals, goody bags including vegan options, and distance pins for longer efforts.

A 100 mile continuous Thames Path race from Richmond to Oxford, mostly on groomed trails and riverside paths. The route gains about 1 900 ft, includes aid stations and mandatory kit checks, and must be completed within 30 hours.
