The Chiltern Ridge Half Marathon is a trail race held in Buckinghamshire along The Ridgeway National Trail. The next edition is scheduled for 5th July 2026. The race distance is 21.1 km with 526 m+ of elevation gain. The field is limited to 350 runners and the event has a 4 hour time limit. The race is a UTMB World Series Index Race and is held under a TRA license (TRA License No. 7443). Minimum age to enter is 17 and dogs are not permitted. Entry fee is £35 (£33 for UKA affiliated runners).
Route and logistics
The route runs between Wendover and Whiteleaf Hill near Princes Risborough, including a loop through Whiteleaf Hill Nature Reserve. The course is entirely off-road on trail paths and includes numerous ups and downs. The race is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons, and marshals will assist at road crossings and busier sections. The registration base is at the Shoulder of Mutton pub in Wendover and the event recommends parking at Wendover train station. The exact start location may be adjusted slightly due to local HS2 works.
Aid stations and support
There is one checkpoint passed twice at The Plough, Cadsden (approximately 6.7 km and 13.4 km). The checkpoint provides water, coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration gels, and jelly babies. Medical support, live timing, and a bag drop are provided. Runners are advised to carry a mobile phone, a digital route map on watch or phone, and a soft cup for aid stations.
