Chiltern Ridge Half Marathon
The Chiltern Ridge Half Marathon is a 21.1 km off road trail race on The Ridgeway National Trail in Buckinghamshire, running between Wendover and Princes Risborough. The route runs from Coombe Hill in Wendover to Whiteleaf Hill near Princes Risborough and includes a loop through Whiteleaf Hill Nature Reserve. Total ascent for the course is about 526 m.
The course is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons, and marshals are positioned at road crossings and busier sections. Aid is provided at a checkpoint at The Plough at Cadsden, which runners pass twice; available items include water, coke, gels from Precision Fuel & Hydration and jelly babies, and there are toilets at the aid station. The event base and registration are at the Shoulder of Mutton pub on Pound Street in Wendover, with a short walking transfer to the start. Parking is available at Wendover train station.
The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. It is listed as a UTMB World Series Index Race. The field is limited to 350 runners, the minimum age is 17, dogs are not permitted and the race has a 4 hour time limit. Runners are asked to carry a mobile phone and a digital route map on watch or phone and to bring a soft cup for drinks at aid stations.
