The Maverick West Sussex Trail

The event takes place at Amberley Museum, New Barn Road, Amberley, West Sussex (BN18 9LT). The venue is adjacent to Amberley railway station, a short walk from the start area. Free parking is available at the venue.

There are three waymarked route options:

  • Half Marathon: 22 km, elevation gain +456 m
  • Middle: 12 km, elevation gain +281 m
  • Short: 6 km, elevation gain +198 m

Routes run on sections of the South Downs Way and through rolling hills, valleys and local hamlets. Surfaces include fire trails, forest paths and farm tracks with hills and some technical sections. The Short route has no outpost. The Middle route has one outpost at about 5 km. The Half Marathon has two outposts at approximately 5 km and 14 km. Outposts provide a range of snacks, gels and electrolyte drink but no pre filled water cups.

Registration is organised in timed windows and race numbers are collected on site. Toilets are available only within the start and finish area. The event asks participants to use a reusable cup or bottle at outposts and aims to be plastic free. Headphones are strongly discouraged. Runners are requested to finish by 2 pm to help with marshal welfare. Dogs may take part but must be included on the entry. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
