The Holmesfield Howler is a 6-mile self-guided trail race on Sunday 26 October 2025. It starts and finishes at Holmesfield Village Hall, Vicarage Close, Holmesfield, Dronfield, Derbyshire, S18 7WZ. The route runs around the village and the head of the Cordwell Valley, featuring undulating hills, woodland, farmland trails, and bridleways on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Runners receive written instructions to follow on the day. There are no GPX files and no marshals on the route. Participants are responsible for their own safety. Runners will be timed out at the start and timed in at the finish. Runners may choose their own start time on the day.
Entry and rules
The event is organised by Peaks and Dales Guiding and is held under UK Athletics rules. Entry fees are £5 for UKA affiliated runners and £7 for unaffiliated runners; UKA affiliates receive a £2 discount. The published minimum age to take part is 18. Dogs are not permitted. Refunds will only be issued if the race is cancelled. Participants are advised to carry a waterproof jacket, warm layers, water, and a working mobile phone with the race director’s number saved.
