The Holmesfield Howler

Holmesfield, United Kingdom • 26 Oct 2025

The Holmesfield Howler is a 6-mile self-guided trail race held in and around Holmesfield, Derbyshire, at the edge of the Peak District. The start and finish are at Holmesfield Village Hall, with runners following written instructions rather than GPX data, and no marshals on the route, so participants are responsible for their own safety. The course combines woodland and farmland trails with undulating hills along well-maintained paths.

It runs under UK Athletics rules, and UKA-affiliated runners receive a £2 discount. Entry fees are £5 for UKA members and £7 for non-members. Minimum age is 16.

Participants should carry a waterproof, warm layers, water, and a mobile phone. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
