Monsal Trail October Half Marathon & 10k Weekend

The event is a two day trail running weekend held at Bakewell Station in Bakewell, Derbyshire. It takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October 2026 and offers a choice of race distances.

The course follows the Monsal Trail, a former Midland Railway line. The route runs through four tunnels and crosses the Monsal viaduct. The surface is traffic free and described as multi terrain and undulating. Organisers provide route maps including downloadable GPX files.

Runners can enter either day or both days. On-the-day entry fees are listed as Half Marathon £35 and 10k £30, subject to availability. Included for entrants are a bespoke medal, free photographs, and trophies and prizes for leading runners.

Practical information notes that there is no general car parking at Bakewell Station except for disabled motorists. Two large pay and display car parks are located around 500 metres from the station. There is additional parking, spectator facilities, and a cafe about a mile along the trail at Hassop Station.

The event is presented by Nice Work and is intended to support autumn marathon training and trail running on a clearly marked, traffic free route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
