The TFG Cheese & Crackers Trail Races
The event is a trail running day in Hartington, Peak District, with two fully waymarked route options and village-based event headquarters at Hartington Village Hall. Runners return to the hall after finishing on the trail opposite Hartington YHA, where hot drinks and snacks are available and complimentary cheese samples are offered.
Distances:
- 8.4 km - 135 m ascent
- 16.4 km - 290 m ascent
The format uses small group waved starts with selectable ten minute start windows to spread runners on the trails and at viewpoints. The long route includes additional sections of Wolfscote Dale and a climb onto the Tissington Trail for expansive views. The course passes Beresford, Wolfscote and Biggin Dale.
Participants must be 18 or older. Long course runners are required to carry mandatory kit; short course runners must wear kit appropriate for the terrain and conditions. Full kit requirements are provided by the organiser.
The event includes complimentary sampling of up to ten locally made cheeses and a complimentary goodie bag from the Hartington Cheese Shop containing cheese, crackers and a 5cl bottle of port. The event partners with the Peak District Foundation to support nature regeneration and trail repair and is held under UK Athletics rules with a licence from the Trail Running Association.
