The TFG Cheese & Crackers Trail Races

The event is a pair of trail races based in Hartington, in the Peak District National Park, with HQ at Hartington Village Hall. Routes are fully waymarked and pass through Beresford, Wolfscote and Biggin Dale. The long route additionally covers more of Wolfscote Dale and includes a climb up to the Tissington Trail.

Distances and ascent:

  • 16.4 km with 290 m ascent
  • 8.4 km with 135 m ascent

Runners finish on the trail opposite Hartington YHA before returning to the village hall where organisers provide hot drinks and a variety of snacks, including samples of local award winning cheese. Each entrant receives a complimentary event goodie bag from the Hartington Cheese Shop containing a cheese, crackers and a 5 cl bottle of port.

Participants must be 18 or older. Long course runners are required to carry mandatory kit while short course runners must wear kit appropriate for the terrain and conditions. The event operates small group waved starts with 10 minute start windows to space runners on the trails.

The race is organised under UK Athletics rules and is licenced by the Trail Running Association. The event partners with the Peak District Foundation so entries contribute to nature regeneration and trail repair within the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
