About the Event

The Endless Pit Backyard Ultra is an endurance race held in Midland, Ontario. Following the traditional Backyard Ultra format, participants must complete a 6.706 km loop every hour, on the hour. The competition has no fixed finish line; it continues indefinitely until only one runner remains. All other participants who fail to complete a loop within the designated hour are eliminated from the event.

Course and Logistics

The event is staged at 9266 County Rd 93, utilizing the rugged trail systems of the local area. The organizers provide several facilities to assist runners throughout the duration of the race:

  • Designated aid stations and first aid support.
  • A runner rest area and space for crew support.
  • Pre-race camp setup and bib pickup available the day before the start.

Recognition and Swag

Participants who register by March are eligible for event-specific gear, including custom running socks and an adjustable five-panel nylon camper hat. Every finisher receives a unique, handcrafted wooden medal. These medals are made from natural wood to reflect the grit and authenticity of the trail environment and the endurance required to answer the bell for each consecutive lap.
