The Drop, Wacol
The Drop is a lap-based endurance run held at Pooh Corner Bushland Reserve in Wacol on October 18th. The course is organised as repeated laps of 3.9 km. Each lap must be completed within a set running time that shortens each round.
The event uses a progressive time rule. The first lap allows 30 minutes for the 3.9 km lap, and the allowed running time decreases by one minute for each subsequent lap. The time removed from the 30 minutes becomes the rest between laps, so the second lap has one minute of rest and 29 minutes of running time, the third lap has two minutes of rest and 28 minutes for running, and so on.
Facilities at the venue include cooking amenities, food and electrolyte supplies for competitors, first aid, and six toilets. Participants may use their own crew but crew support is not required.
The format is described as a running equivalent of a beep test for ultra runners, focusing on repeated timed laps rather than a fixed overall distance. The event information emphasises the lap distance, the changing allowed times, and on-site practical support rather than a fixed finish condition.
