Lake Manchester Trails

Lake Manchester Trails is a trail running event organised by TRAQ at Lake Manchester, QLD. The event offers multiple course options and a lakeside route that includes trails, river crossings and varied terrain.

Distances available:

  • 1 km Kids Dash (under 9)
  • 1 km Junior Dash (9-12)
  • 5 km (over 10s)
  • 10 km (16 and over)
  • 23 km (18 and over)

The 23 km route leaves the reserve, passes the dam and follows the western shore of the lake, does a clockwise loop at the far end with four river crossings, then returns along the western shore to the start/finish. The 10 km follows the 23 km course to the log cabin then turns back. The 5 km route goes past the dam along the west side, around a grassed headland and returns on the same track. The 1 km kids course is announced at the race briefing and all children receive a medal; no overall places or times are recorded for the kids events.

Hydration and safety arrangements include water stops at about 5 km, 7 km and 11 km, Tailwind electrolytes, limited food at the 11 km checkpoint, a paramedic on site and first aid kits at key locations. The event has a no-disposable-cups policy; participants should bring a reusable or collapsible cup. Pets are not permitted on course or at start/finish. Proceeds support the TRAQ Charity Fund.
