The Derby 50K - Ellerbe, NC

The Derby 50K takes place on November 28, 2026, at 1647 Jones Springs Church Rd, in front of the Derby Community Building in Ellerbe, NC. The course is 31.5 miles run as three loops of rolling hills on a mix of asphalt and dirt. The route is run counter-clockwise and both the start and finish are at the community building.

Turns and some straights are marked with yellow arrows painted on the highway and with posted signs at turns. The course is not closed to traffic and participants are responsible for looking for markings and exercising caution. There is no cut off time. Camping is permitted on the community building grounds. In an effort to minimize trash, participants are asked to use a hydration pack or other reusable container.

Registration opens July 6, 2026 and ends November 25 or when capacity is reached. Entries are handled on a first come first serve basis. There is no race day registration and there is no wait list. The race number serves as the packet and as the ticket for the post-race meal and can be picked up at the Derby Community Building on the morning of the event.

A spaghetti lunch will be served at the Derby Community Building with salad, drink, cake, banana pudding, and pies. A non-meat sauce option will be available. The meal is free to runners and is offered to the public for ten dollars a plate with proceeds supporting community needs, the church, and the fire department. Organizers request donations of dog or cat food for Richmond County Operation Fix; a van will be onsite for donations.

Awards will be given to overall male and female finishers, first Richmond County male and female, and all finishers receive custom 4x4 inch medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
