Event Overview
The Derby 50K is an ultramarathon taking place on Saturday, November 28, 2026, in Ellerbe, North Carolina. The race starts and finishes in front of the Derby Community Building.
Course Details
The course is 50K (31.5 miles) long and consists of three loops run on a combination of asphalt and dirt roads in a country setting. The route features rolling hills and is run in a counter-clockwise direction. It is not closed to traffic. The course will be marked with yellow arrows painted on the highway and signs posted at turns.
Registration and Logistics
Registration is first-come, first-served and ends on November 25, 2026, or when capacity is reached. There is no race-day registration or waitlist. Participants are asked to bring dog or cat food to donate to Richmond County Operation Fix, which will have a van on-site. Race packets, including the race number, can be picked up at 7:00 AM on race day at the Derby Community Building. The race number serves as the ticket for a complimentary post-race meal.
Post-Race and Amenities
A spaghetti lunch is provided free to runners at the Derby Community Building. The meal includes a salad, drink, cake, banana pudding, and pies, with a non-meat sauce option available. The lunch is prepared by members of Jones Springs Church and is also open to the public for a fee. Camping is permitted on the grounds of the community building. Participants are encouraged to use a hydration pack or container to minimize trash.
Awards
Awards are given to the overall male and female finishers, as well as to the first male and female finishers from Richmond County. All finishers receive a custom medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
