The Derby 50k : event overview
The Derby 50k takes place on November 29, 2025 in Ellerbe, North Carolina, at 1647 Jones Springs Church Rd in front of the Derby Community Building. The distance is 50K (31.5 miles), run as three loops. Registration closes November 27 or when capacity is reached. Entries are first come, first serve; there is no race day registration and no wait list. Race numbers serve as the runner packet and as the ticket for the race meal and can be picked up at the Derby Community Building on race morning. Camping is permitted on the community building grounds.
Course, services and awards
The course starts and finishes at the Derby Community Building and is run counter-clockwise facing traffic. Turns and some straights are marked with yellow arrows painted on the highway and with posted signs; runners are responsible for following the markings. The route covers rolling hills on both asphalt and dirt and is not closed to traffic. There is no cutoff time. Runners are asked to use a hydration pack or container to reduce trash.
A spaghetti meal with salad, drink, cake, banana pudding and pies will be served at the community building. A non-meat sauce option is available. The meal is free to runners; public plates are $10. Awards include overall male and female awards, first Richmond County male and female awards, and a custom 4x4 inch finisher medal for all finishers.
