Event Overview
The event takes place on a scenic, well-maintained and well-marked trail loop around the Weymouth Woods Boyd Tract in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The route passes by the Weymouth Center property and the oldest known living Long Leaf Pine Tree, estimated to be over 470 years old.
Events
The event offers two race formats:
- 4-Hour Repeat: A self-paced event where participants complete as many one-mile loops as they can within a four-hour period. Laps are recorded by organizers. Runners can run, walk, and rest as needed. The participant covering the greatest distance wins.
- 5K: This option consists of three loops of the same one-mile course, with a one-hour cutoff time. Runners registered for the 5K can choose to continue running laps and join the full four-hour challenge at any time.
Event Details
Packet pickup is available on the day before the event at Pace Yourself Run Company in downtown Southern Pines, as well as on the morning of the event at the start line. Parking is available at the Weymouth Woods Center for the Humanities.
An aid station with water, Gatorade, and snacks will be set up at the start/finish line. Participants are permitted to set up personal tents, tables, and aid stations in the park area near the finish.
Prizes are awarded to the top male and female finishers in both the 4-hour and 5K events. Participants receive an official race t-shirt and finishing medal, though t-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after a specified date in October.
