The Cut Ultra

Nerang, Australia • 25 Oct 2025

Event

The Cut Ultra is scheduled for October 25, 2025 at Nerang Sports Centre, 1 Hope Street, Nerang, Queensland, Australia. The event includes fundraising activity and has raised $120.52. Organisers provide on-site meal options during scheduled breaks. The event runs alongside a Halloween Hustle gathering that will witness the final hot laps.

Format and categories

The event uses repeated short laps and a progressive elimination process called the cut. Laps are 1.5 km with a 15-minute official time limit per lap. Cutting begins once participants have completed 10.5 km; before each lap the number of runners to be eliminated is announced. Between one and five people may be removed on any cut lap. The competition continues until a small group remains for a final hot lap, with final heats produced separately for men and women.

Distances

  • 1.5 km loop length
  • Total running between 10.5 km and 50 km
  • Junior laps 500 m, juniors run 2 km to 5 km

A separate juniors event runs during the long break. Junior laps are 500 m with 20-second breaks between laps. The organisers will introduce a concurrent women's division that uses standard cuts until a set point, then splits into separate cuts for each gender leading to separate hot laps.
