Event Overview
The Wild Earth Border Bolt Running Festival is held in Currumbin on the Gold Coast. The event takes place on a Sunday in early August. In 2026, it will be the second race in the Trail Trips Triple Crown series.
Course and Distances
The course starts at Currumbin Creek and goes into the hinterland hills. The route is described as having twists, turns, and hills with ocean views. Four distances are offered:
- 6.6 km: entirely on pavement.
- 13.5 km: includes a small amount of trail.
- 22 km: described as a "full meal" of trail.
- 31 km: includes more trail and a feature called Strawberry Hill.
The event uses an out-and-back course format.
The Triple Crown Series
The Border Bolt is part of the Trail Trips Triple Crown, which also includes the 'In the Raw' event on May 31, 2026, and the 'Coastal High' event in late August 2026. Entering all three races together provides a discounted rate and a free backpack and gift bag.

- Short Course Series: consists of the Border Bolt 22 km, the 'In the Raw' 15 km, and the 'Coastal High Crunch' 28 km.
- Long Course Series: consists of the Border Bolt 31 km, the 'In the Raw' 25 km, and the 'Coastal High 50' event.
