The c2c Essex Ultra

The c2c Essex Ultra is a one-day ultramarathon held on 12 September 2026 and organised by c2c to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK. The event offers multiple route distances and directs all entry fee money and donations to the charity.

The 50-mile route starts at Upminster Station, the 30-mile route starts at Lansdowne Primary School in Tilbury, and the 10-mile route starts at Benfleet Station. All routes finish at Thorpedene Primary School. The course follows the Thames eastwards, using sections of the London Loop and England Coast National Trails, with underfoot surfaces mainly tarmac and some hard trail sections. Scenery includes urban areas, marshland and riverbank with views across parts of the Thames and Greater London.

The event provides a fully recced and marked route, full medical cover, checkpoints with food and water at regular intervals (eight for 50 miles, five for 30 miles, one for 10 miles), a quality metal finishers medal, prizes and trophies, free tea, coffee and cake at the finish, and action photos available to download. Participants receive free travel on the c2c route to and from the event. The minimum age for entry is 18. The only compulsory kit listed is a fully charged mobile phone and a minimum 500 ml of water. A 100 mile continuous Thames Path race from Richmond to Oxford, mostly on groomed trails and riverside paths. The route gains about 1 900 ft, includes aid stations and mandatory kit checks, and must be completed within 30 hours.
