The Blade Runner

The Blade Runner is a 7-mile multi-terrain race that starts and finishes by the wind turbines on the Oakdale plateau and uses the lanes to loop the village of Manmoel. It is selected as the second race in the East Wales Road Race Championships.

All participants must be aged 16 or over on race day. Entry fees are specified as £12.00 for UK Athletics registered runners and £14.00 for non-affiliated runners, plus a small booking fee. A Welsh Athletics race licence has been applied for under UKA rules. Distance is approximate.

All finishers receive a commemorative race buff. Prizes are awarded for the first three male and first three female finishers, age-category prizes for male vets 40+, 50+, 60+ and female vets 35+, 45+, 55+, and team prizes for first male and female teams (three to score). The awards ceremony will take place at the finish line after the race.

Race headquarters and the start line are located outside Braces Bakery in Oakdale. Entries are available on the day and there is ample parking. The course is undulating and unsuitable for wheelchair athletes. No headphones are permitted except bone-conducting models. Once entered there are no cancellations or deferrals; transfers are permitted via the entry system before 20 June 2026. Entries close on 20 June 2026. Inflatable 5K in Bristol on Saturday 30 May 2026 offers 2.5 km laps with options of 2.5 km, 5 km, 10 km or 15 km across large inflatable obstacles and five music zones. The event is untimed and includes a finisher's medal and water stations..

A themed 7 hour Time Challenge at Dare Valley Country Park celebrating 50 years of Rocky, with distances from 3 km up to ultra, themed medals, goody bags and aid stations on well maintained park paths.

Phoenix Running South Wales stages the Manta Ray Run at Parc Taf Bargoed, Trelewis. Participants run repeated 5.3 km laps within a seven hour time limit and receive a bespoke finisher medal unless they choose a no medal option.

A mixed surface coastal out and back of about 7 miles from Blue Anchor to Minehead and back via the Steam Coast Trail, with water stations, first aid, a finishers medal and event T shirts for early online entries.
