Tarctic Frozen Yeti

Westwood, United States • 7-8 Feb 2026

Event overview

The TARCtic Frozen Yeti is a winter trail running event at Hale Education / Powissett Lodge in Westwood, Massachusetts on February 7-8, 2026. There are two distance options:

  • 30 hour (ultra) : multi-lap on the tri-loop course, minimum 30 miles required for a recorded finish
  • 15 miles : one full lap of the tri-loop course

Registration sells out, and the event has a no-refund, no-transfer policy except for emergencies. Profits are donated to land conservations and trusts. The event follows a Leave No Trace policy and supports youth discounts through a youth initiative.

Course, logistics and rules

The course is a cloverleaf of three roughly five-mile loops (Red, Blue, White) that start and finish at Powissett Lodge and are marked with colored loop entrances, pink flagging with reflective tape, and directional arrows at major intersections. Aid is available at the lodge/start-finish area every ~5 miles; this is a cupless event so participants must bring their own cup or hydration system. Drop bags: two per participant (one inside, one outside) at the lodge. Timing is manual and 30 hour runners must check in regularly at the timing table; check-in frequency increases during night hours and later mileage for safety.

Required gear will be checked at check-in and includes items for cold-weather survival (examples: cell phone, two hats, two pairs of hand coverings, wind/water-resistant shell, emergency blankets, whistle). Additional night and extreme-cold gear requirements apply and will be announced before the race. Snowshoes are not allowed; trekking poles are permitted. Parking requires walking from lots (up to about 1.5 miles) and there are no shuttles. Camping in the adjacent field is allowed with restrictions.
