Swammie Shuffle 200

The Swammie Shuffle 200 is a 200-mile out-and-back running event on February 28, 2027, starting from Sandbridge Beach in Virginia Beach, VA. Participants run more than 200 miles south through the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, then return to the start. The course includes approximately 20 miles of beach at the beginning and end, long stretches of sidewalks and road shoulders through the Outer Banks, and three lighthouses along the route: Corolla, Bodie Island, and Cape Hatteras.

The event was created in memory of a Marine veteran who died by suicide on February 28, 2020 and aims to raise awareness and funds for veteran suicide prevention. One hundred percent of funds raised will be divided between Awareness N Action and Mission22. Awareness N Action focuses on local, grassroots efforts and creative support programs for veterans.

Support during the race is the responsibility of each participant. The event does not provide aid stations; volunteers will assist by picking up runners who cannot continue. Participants may not ride in a moving vehicle or mark the course, though they may be in a stationary vehicle. There are stretches of roughly 20 miles without stores, and runners should plan support and logistics accordingly. The event offers a limited amount of participant swag and is limited to 30 in-person spots. Registration opens April 1, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
