Swammie Shuffle 200
The Swammie Shuffle 200 is a long-distance running event in Virginia Beach, VA, held on February 28, 2027. The course is an out and back totaling more than 200 mile, beginning at Sandbridge Beach and extending south through the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which serves as the turnaround point.
The route includes roughly the first and last 20 miles on beach sand between Sandbridge Beach and Corolla, with the middle sections on sidewalks and road shoulders. Runners pass three lighthouses along the course: Corolla, Bodie Island, and Cape Hatteras. Wild horses in Corolla may be visible from parts of the route. The final miles before the finish lie on beach within a back bay refuge where access is restricted during night hours relative to local sunset and sunrise.
Support and logistics are primarily the responsibility of participants. The race does not provide aid and participants may not be transported in a moving vehicle or mark the course. Volunteers are available to retrieve runners who are unable to continue. Several stretches between towns have no stores for about 20 miles. Participants have five and a half days to complete the course. There are 30 open spots for in person participants. Some event swag is offered.
All funds raised are divided between Awareness N Action and Mission22, charities focused on veteran suicide prevention and related veteran services. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
