Swammie Shuffle 200

Virginia Beach, United States • 22 Feb 2026

Event overview

The Swammie Shuffle 200 is a long-distance running event in Virginia Beach, VA on February 22, 2026. The event is an out-and-back course of about 200 miles that sends runners south through the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Cape Hatteras lighthouse and back. The route includes beach running, sidewalks and road shoulders, and passes three lighthouses: Corolla, Bodie Island, and Cape Hatteras. The course begins near Sandbridge Beach and includes long stretches of 20ish miles between towns with no stores. Runners are given five and a half days to complete the course.

Course rules and purpose

Support is the responsibility of each participant; the event does not provide aid. Participants may not ride in a moving vehicle or mark the course, though they may occupy a non-moving vehicle. Volunteers can retrieve runners who cannot continue. Runners must not enter the back bay refuge from 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise. Only 22 in-person participant spots are initially open; additional participants may be selected from a waitlist. All funds raised will be split between Awareness N Action and Mission22, charities that work on veteran suicide prevention and related veteran issues. The event is organized as a fundraiser to raise awareness and financial support for those efforts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
