Swammie Shuffle 200 : Feb 22–27, 2026, Virginia Beach, VA

The Swammie Shuffle 200 is a long-distance running event based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The course is more than 200 miles, with runners given five and a half days to complete it. The event begins at Sandbridge Beach and uses 3713 Sandpiper Road as the race meeting location.

Course and logistics

Runners head south through the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, then return to the start. The first and last roughly 20 miles are on beach sand between Sandbridge Beach, VA and Corolla, NC. Between towns runners use sidewalks and road shoulders. The route passes three lighthouses - Corolla, Bodie Island, and Cape Hatteras - and runners may see the wild horses of Corolla. Parts of the route include stretches of about 20 miles with no stores. The last miles before the finish are on beach in the back bay refuge; runners may not be in the refuge from 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise. Support is up to each runner; the race does not provide aid and participants may not ride in a moving vehicle. Volunteers will be available to pick up runners who cannot continue.

Charity, entries and swag

All funds raised are divided between Awareness N Action and Mission22 to support veterans affected by PTSD and related issues. There are 22 open in-person spots and a waitlist for additional participants; organizers review waitlist submissions when selecting extra entrants. Some participant swag is offered.
