Virginia Run for Cancer
The Virginia Run for Cancer is a 24 hour endurance event held in Hampton, VA, offering both solo and team entries. The course is a flat, all dirt nature park loop measuring approximately 3.75 mile and is USATF certified (VA12075RT).
Registration opens January 1 and the field is limited to 200 entrants. The published entry fee is $75 for both individual and team members. Pacers are allowed after dark. Volunteer lap counters are provided during the event.
Awards include special engraved plaques for first place male, female, team, and fundraiser. Course records are listed as Male 135 miles, Female 131 miles, and Team 1052.75 miles. Wooden plaques are awarded to runners who complete 50, 62.5, 75, 100, or 125 miles. All entrants receive technical T-shirts. Repeat participants can earn 500 Mile Club jackets and 1000 mile buckles. Walkers are welcome.
The event reports a lifetime total of $310,000 raised for the American Cancer Society. On-site liquid refreshments are provided; runners are expected to bring their own food and hydration. Participants are advised to bring flashlights for night running. Team registration accepts individual teammates noting a team and team captain during registration; the team with the highest total miles receives a perpetuity plaque that is passed to the next year.
