Virginia Run for Cancer - Hampton, VA
Virginia Run for Cancer is a multi-entry endurance event held at a nature park on 1255 Big Bethel Road in Hampton, VA. The event offers 24 hour solo and 24 hour team formats on a flat, all dirt loop of 3.75 miles. The course is USATF certified (VA12075RT).
Registration opens on January 1 and the field is limited to 200 entrants. Entry fee is $75 for both individual and team participants. Team registration allows teammates to note their team and team captain during registration; the team with the highest total miles receives a perpetual plaque passed between team members.
Awards include engraved plaques for first place male, female, team, and top fundraiser. Course records are listed for male, female, and team categories. Wooden plaques are awarded for runners who complete milestone totals of 50, 62.5, 75, 100, or 125 miles. Technical t-shirts are provided for all entrants, and previous-day miles in another race are counted toward totals. Repeat participants may earn 500 mile club jackets and 1000 mile buckles.
Volunteer lap counters are provided. On-site liquid refreshments are available; runners are expected to bring their own food and hydration, and pizza may be provided for dinner. Walkers are welcome and pacers are allowed after dark. The event reports a lifetime total of funds raised for the American Cancer Society.
