Survivorfest Running Event

Survivorfest takes place in Sherwood Park, Alberta, on Treaty Six Territory and the homeland of the Métis Nation of Alberta, Regions Two and Four. The event features timed races in 6-hour, 12-hour, and 24-hour formats, offered for solo runners and relay teams. All profits are donated to the local sexual assault centre, Saffron Centre, which supports school programs; since 2019 more than $37,000 has been donated.

Since 2024 both course options hold IAU Bronze Label certification:

  • Loop A 400 m track (uses the four inside lanes; capped at 70 athletes)
  • Loop B 1.69 km road and track mix (uses the three outer lanes)

Both loops are flat, fast, and low elevation. Direction changes occur at regular intervals during races: every 4 hours for 12-hour and 24-hour competitors and every 3 hours for 6-hour competitors. A fully stocked aid station operates throughout the event offering hot and cold food and beverages. The event provides over 18 hours of music and a Sunday morning tradition featuring the song "Final Countdown."

The event is Trail Sisters Approved and offers three gender categories, accepting each athlete's declared gender without documentation. The event is livestreamed on YouTube. Registration opens December 1 with tiered pricing and options for kids races and relay loops. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
