Event Overview
The Surf Coast Century takes place in Anglesea, Victoria, along the Great Ocean Road. The event offers multiple formats including a 100 km solo ultra marathon, a 50 km solo race, and relay options for teams of two, three, or four people. A 2.5 km Kids' Run is also available for participants up to 12 years of age.
The 100 km course features sea cliffs, beaches, and hinterland trails with approximately 1,800 meters of total elevation gain. The 50 km route follows the first two legs of the full century course. The terrain includes single tracks through wildflower heathlands, waterfalls, and coastal sections such as Bells Beach.
Participant Services
There are seven fully-stocked checkpoints along the route providing various food options, including gluten-free and vegan selections. Support crews are permitted to meet runners at these locations. In the lead-up to the event, organizers coordinate free guided training runs that cover the race trails.
Event Schedule and Activities
The main races are held on Saturday, while Sunday features "Celebration Sunday," which includes the Boat Ramp Battle, official presentations, and recovery activities.
- 100 km Solo: Full distance with 1,800m of climbing.
- 50 km Solo: Covers the first half of the 100km course.
- 100 km Relay: Teams of 2, 3, or 4 members share the distance.
- 2.5 km Kids' Run: Beach and river run for children.
