The Lara Fun Run / Walk is held at Serendip Sanctuary, Lara, with the start and finish within the grounds of Pirra Homestead. The event offers these distances:

  • 10km run
  • 5km run/walk
  • 1km Kids Dash

The overall field limit for the event is 1,000 participants. Entry fees vary by registration period; ranges shown by the organiser are: 10km from $45 to $60, 5km from $41 to $55, and Kids Dash $20. Race day entries are card only. No transfer of entries or bib numbers is permitted.

Course, logistics and prizes

The 5km is a flat one-lap course and the 10km is two laps around Serendip Sanctuary. The course passes through native habitat where kangaroos, emus, koalas and native birdlife may be seen. Drink stations are located at about 2.5km, 5km, 7.5km and at the finish. Off-road parking is available on land opposite the event site, less than 100 m from the start/finish area.

All finishers receive a medal and an online personalised finishers certificate with name, official finishing time, pace and place. Personalised race bibs are available for registrations completed by October 19; a postage option is offered for a $7.50 fee but is not available for some late registrants. Trophies are awarded to overall winners of the 10km and 5km. Age-group 1st to 3rd places receive gold, silver and bronze medals; placings are based on gun time.
