Event overview

The Lara Fun Run / Walk is a community event held at Serendip Sanctuary with start and finish at Pirra Mansion (Pirra Homestead) in Lara, Victoria. Distances on the program are:

  • 10 km run
  • 5 km run/walk
  • 1 km Kids Dash

The event has an overall field limit of 1,000 participants. There is a separate field limit for the Kids Dash (around 100 children). All finishers receive a finishers medal and an online, personalised finishers certificate showing official finishing time, pace and place. Personalised race bibs are available for participants who register by a specified deadline.

Course and logistics

The course runs through Serendip Sanctuary and the 5 km route is a single lap while the 10 km route is two laps; the 5 km course is described as flat. Drink stations are located at about 2.5 km, 5 km, 7.5 km and at the finish. Secure off-road parking is available directly opposite the event entrance (under 100 m from start/finish). A secure staffed baggage area will be provided on race morning.

Age categories are specified for prize allocations and trophies will be awarded to overall winners of the 10 km and 5 km events. Age-group and overall results are calculated on gun time rather than net time. Spectator pets on a lead are permitted but pets are not allowed on the course.
