15th Steppingley Step

The event is based at Barton-le-Clay Village Hall and follows mainly field paths, tracks, woods and some roads through undulating countryside with good views from the hills traversed. Routes are waymarked by route descriptions and pass through a number of checkpoints.

Entries are online only and open from 1 September 2026, with entries closing on 13 November 2026. Priority entry is available for LDWA members until 18 October, with general entry opening on 19 October at midday. There are no entries on the day and entries are not transferable. Entry fees are LDWA member £10, non LDWA £15, under 18s free. A £2 administration fee is deducted from refunds notified before 1 November 2026; after that date refunds are not normally given unless a place is filled from the waiting list.

Practical information includes parking at the village hall or Arnold Academy on Hexton Road and following marshals' directions. Route descriptions and GPX files must be downloaded and printed before arrival as none will be supplied on the day. Trail runs nearby

An evening trail event at Wendover Woods on 18 July 2026 raising funds for the Chilterns Neuro Centre. It offers 10K, 5K and an accessible 1.5K with marked routes, chip timing and on-course support.

Fully marked trail races at Winwick Hall feature 10k and 5k routes plus a 2k children’s fun run. Courses cross grassland and country paths, on-course support and charity donations to the Bruce Green Foundation are part of the event.

A chip timed 10 km race around Highfield Park and the Alban Way in St Albans on 19 July 2026. The event village features a free family fun run, kids zone, live music and a charity partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK.

An obstacle 5k at Priory Park, Bedford on 25 July 2026 featuring climbs, crawls and muddy obstacles. Organised by Cancer Research UK, it uses staggered wave starts, has basic on site facilities and is not suitable for wheelchair users.
