Summer Extravaganza

The Summer Extravaganza takes place along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, starting at Kirkstall. The event is located approximately three miles from the centre of Leeds, making it accessible via public transport. The course utilizes a good canal towpath that is flat and fast underfoot.

The event follows a lapped format, with each lap measuring 6.7 miles. There is a 6.5 hour cut-off time for participants. Multiple distances are available to accommodate different running goals:

  • 10 km
  • 10 miles
  • Half Marathon
  • 20 miles
  • Marathon

Feed and water stations are positioned approximately every three miles along the route, offering a range of food and drinks. The event aims to be cup-less, so participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles or cups. For safety, large over-ear headphones are not permitted, though bone-conducting or "one in one out" earphones are allowed due to potential unmarshalled road crossings.

Registration is held at the Hollybush Conservation Centre on Broad Lane, where toilet facilities are available. For every participant, the organizer contributes £1 to the Hollybush charity. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and access to post-race refreshments, which include a BBQ with vegan and gluten-free options, cakes, sweets, and various beverages. Free car parking is available at the nearby Morrisons in Kirkstall, which is a short walk from the start and finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
