Suffer Better Fall Trail Run
Suffer Better is a fall trail race day at Staunton State Park on October 10, 2026, with the start and finish at the Lazy V Parking lot about 1.5 miles into the park. The event raises funds for Conservation Colorado and Running Rivers and focuses on running on park singletrack while supporting land and water protection.
Distances offered:
- 50K ultra, roughly 50 kilometers, singletrack loop
- 25K loop, roughly 25 kilometers, singletrack
- 25K FishSlappers division, same course as the 25K plus a trout-catching requirement
- 5K trail run, shorter but steep course
The courses use runnable singletrack with notable elevation gain. Aid stations are provided along the routes; there are four named stations, located near Bugling Elk and Staunton Ranch Trails (mile 4.6), Old Mill (mile 7), Dines Meadow and Staunton Ranch Trail intersection (mile 10.6), and Davis Ponds (mile 13.4). Runners in the 50K will pass those stations twice. Volunteers staff aid stations and provide water and hydration drink options.
The event is bottle-free and cup-free so participants should bring personal hydration bottles. Parking at the park is limited and carpooling is encouraged. Course maps and GPX files are provided, and the organizer notes that measured distances are approximate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
