Roxborough Ultras

The Roxborough Ultras take place on August 15, 2026, featuring point-to-point courses that begin in Roxborough State Park and conclude at the Sharptail Trailhead. These trail races mark the first time an event has been permitted within the state park, traversing a landscape of red rock formations, montane valleys, and high country terrain.

Participants can choose from two primary distances:

  • 50 Miles: A 50.2-mile course with 9,337 feet of elevation gain, featuring climbs to Carpenter Peak and segments of the Colorado Trail.
  • 50k: A 31.1-mile course with 5,279 feet of elevation gain, including technical singletrack and sandstone features.

Both routes consist predominantly of singletrack trails with some forest service roads. The courses involve steady climbing out of the park followed by rolling terrain through Pike National Forest and the Indian Creek Campground area. Each distance concludes with a flowy 10-mile descent toward the finish area.

The event provides full support with aid stations positioned at intervals to assist runners throughout the effort. The finish area at Sharptail Trailhead includes food trucks and New Terrain Brewing. In coordination with the U.S. Forest Service and Douglas County Open Space, the event emphasizes land stewardship, including planned trail work days to maintain the local trail systems.
