HRCA Backcountry Wilderness Half Marathon

The 18th annual edition of this event takes place in Highlands Ranch on November 7, 2026. The race covers a distance of 13.1 miles, navigating through the Highlands Ranch Backcountry Wilderness Area and the Douglas County East/West Trail. The course consists primarily of singletrack trails and includes various hilly sections.

Participants compete for cash prizes awarded to the top three male, female, and non-binary finishers. First place receives $600, second place receives $400, and third place receives $200. The event is open to runners of different experience levels, from those attempting their first trail race to athletes seeking a specific finish time.

  • Half Marathon: 13.1 miles on a singletrack trail course with hills.

Registered runners receive a long sleeve technical race shirt, a custom race bib, and a finisher medal. Following the completion of the course, participants are provided with a pancake breakfast and beverages provided by local partners. The event is located at 11033 Monarch Blvd in Lone Tree, Colorado.
