Event overview

St Helens Striders organise a trail race of 5 mile distance in Sankey Valley Park, Blackbrook, St Helens (WA11 0AB). The 2026 event takes place on Sunday 1 November 2026. All participants must be at least 15 years old on the day of the race.

Course and facilities

The course is mostly compact trail with some tarmac paths. Trail surfaces can be uneven, muddy and rocky. The route is in a public park and includes a few sections where vehicles may be present; those sections will be marshalled. Marshals will be positioned along the route to give directions and support. There are toilets at the Sankey Visitors Centre.

There is limited parking at the Sankey Visitors Centre on Blackbrook Road. Race numbers are collected on the day from the Sankey Visitors Centre. Baggage may be left at the Sankey Visitors Centre but items are left at the owner’s risk.

Water is provided at the finish as part of the finisher's goody bag; there are no water stations on the route. All finishers receive a goody bag that includes a memento. Post-race food and drinks are available at The Ship Inn near the start area.

Entry, prizes and terms

Prizes are awarded for overall places and for first place in several veteran age categories for both sexes (v40, v45, v50, v55, v60, v65). Entries are non-refundable. Number transfers may be allowed if requested at least two weeks before race day. The organisers reserve the right to alter, delay, cancel or suspend the event; no refund is issued if officials cancel due to weather.
