Stort30 Ultra : Riverside 30-mile out-and-back

Stort30 is a 30-mile ultra run along the River Stort and the Lee navigations on the Hertfordshire–Essex border. The course is an out-and-back route of 15 miles each way, mostly flat with a mixture of grassy trail and graded gravel footpath. The first half mile and the final half mile are on footpath or tarmac; in wet conditions up to about 12 miles of riverside trail can be muddy and slippery.

The event is based at Hockerill Sports and Social Club in Bishop's Stortford. Checkpoints are placed at roughly five-mile intervals and typically provide water, squash, basic sweets, snacks and some hot items when available. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options are sometimes offered but cross-contamination cannot be guaranteed. A .gpx file and a written route description are provided as a backup; signage is placed before and after turns.

Cut-off times are four hours at the 15-mile turnaround and eight hours overall; runners outside the turnaround cut-off will be transported back to the start. Timing is electronic and finish results are posted live on the event results page, but there is no live competitor tracking.

There is no mandatory kit. The race operates a cupless policy so runners must carry their own drinking vessel. Facilities at the clubhouse include toilets, changing rooms, showers and baggage storage. All finishers receive a race medal and trophies are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers. Entrants must be 18 or over on race day.
