Stort30 Ultra
Bishop's Stortford, United Kingdom • 26 Oct 2025
Event overview
The Stort30 is a 30-mile ultramarathon along the River Stort and Lee Navigation on the Hertfordshire-Essex border. The course is an out-and-back route of 15 miles each way, with checkpoints approximately every 5 miles. Electronic timing is used and live results are published after finish. Awards include trophies for the first three overall male and female finishers and age-group medals across multiple age categories.
Normal entry fee is £55 with earlier discounted tiers noted on the event page. Entries on the day are accepted at a higher fee and are not eligible for age-group or overall prizes. Entrants must be 18 or over on race day. There is no mandatory kit list for the event.
Course, support and logistics
The route is mostly grassy trail and graded footpath, with the first half mile on tarmac and the last half mile on return. About 12 miles of riverside trail can become muddy and slippery when wet. Signage will be placed before and after turns and a GPX file and written route description are provided as backups.
Checkpoints offer water, squash and basic snacks, with some vegetarian/vegan and gluten-free options but possible cross-contamination. There are toilets, changing rooms, showers and baggage storage at the clubhouse; there are no guaranteed toilets on the route. There is no parking at the clubhouse - drop off only - and participants are advised to use the nearby station car park and walk to the start. Cut-offs are 3.5 hours at the halfway point and 7 hours overall; runners over the halfway cut-off will be stopped and transported back to the start.
