Stort30

Stort30 is a 30 mile ultra running event on the border of Hertfordshire and Essex, following the River Stort and the Lee Navigation. Runners follow an out and back route with a 15 mile turnaround.

The surface is mostly grassy trail and graded footpath with some short sections on tarmac. Underfoot is generally good with a mixture of graded gravel paths and riverside trail. In wet conditions about 12 miles of riverside trail can be muddy and slippery. The route is signed and a .gpx file is available as a backup.

Checkpoints are positioned at roughly every five miles and provide water, squash, basic sweets and snacks; organisers usually include some hot and vegetarian options and some gluten free choices but cannot guarantee no cross contamination. There are toilets, changing facilities, showers and baggage storage at the clubhouse; there are no toilets on the route.

The event uses electronic timing and publishes finish results. All finishers receive a race medal. Trophies are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers. The event is cupless so runners must carry a cup or vessel to take drinks at checkpoints.

There is no parking at the clubhouse; drop off and pick up only. Local station car parks are used for longer stays. The organiser sets qualifying guidance for entrants and provides information on entries, refunds and volunteer roles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
