Stort30

Stort30 is a 30 mile ultramarathon held along the River Stort and Lee Navigation on the border of Hertfordshire and Essex. The course is an out and back of 15 miles each way and finishes at the clubhouse. Trophies are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers and all finishers receive a medal. Entrants must be 18 or over on race day.

The route is mostly grassy trail and graded footpath with a short initial section on footpath or tarmac and a short final section on the return. Surfaces include graded gravel and riverside trail; in wet conditions about 12 miles can be muddy or slippery. A GPX file and a written route description are available as backups, and signage is placed before and after turns.

Checkpoints are approximately every 5 miles and normally provide water, squash, basic sweets and snacks; occasional items have included cake, chicken bites and veggie options. Veggie, vegan and gluten free options may be available but cross contamination cannot be guaranteed. The event is cupless so runners must carry a personal vessel; foldable cups are available for purchase at registration.

The event uses electronic timing with live results posted after finish. Facilities at the Hockerill Sports and Social Club include toilets, changing, showers and baggage storage. There is no parking at the clubhouse; local station parking and a walk to the start are recommended. The race enforces a 4 hour cut-off at 15 miles and an 8 hour overall cut-off. Entry fees vary with early entry discounts and there are limited entries on the day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
