Stone Steps 50K and 27K Trail Run

The Stone Steps 50K and 27K Trail Run takes place in Mt. Airy Forest, a large urban park located near downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Established over 20 years ago, this event utilizes the park's 1,470 acres of diverse terrain, which includes lush evergreens, dense hardwoods, meadows, and rivers. The race is held on single-track trails that feature roots, rocks, and various elevation changes.

Participants can choose from two primary distances:

  • 50 km
  • 27 km

The 50 km race follows a loop format on single-track trails. Runners complete a five-mile loop four times, alternating with a three-mile loop run three times. This course involves a total elevation change of 10,726 feet. An aid station is positioned at the end of each loop to provide support. The 27 km option follows a similar alternating pattern, with the five-mile loop and the three-mile loop each completed twice.

The event starts and finishes at The Oval (Area 13) within Mt. Airy Forest. The course includes challenging hill climbs and ridge traverses. Net proceeds from the event are donated to support the Cincinnati park district. Registration includes a custom race t-shirt and chip timing. The race is held rain or shine, and aid stations are fully stocked to assist runners throughout the duration of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
