The forest covers about 1,469.9 acres and features evergreens, hardwoods, open meadows, rivers, hill climbs, and ridge traverses. The trails are single track and can include roots, rocks, and occasional tree blow downs.

Course formats are loop based with aid stations placed at the end of each loop for the 50K. The 27K repeats a 5+ mile loop twice and a 3+ mile loop twice. Both races include a custom race T shirt and timing chip. Start and finish are located at The Oval, area 13.

The event has operated for over 20 years and is noted as entering its 25th year in 2027. Net proceeds from the races are donated to the Cincinnati park district, with more than $2,000 contributed annually.
