Trail Running in Mt. Airy Forest

The Stone Steps 50K and 27K Trail Run takes place in Mt. Airy Forest, located a few miles from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. This event marks the 23rd edition of what is recognized as the longest running ultramarathon in the city. The venue is situated near the intersection of I-75 and I-74, accessible via Colerain Avenue. The races are organized in cooperation with the Cincinnati Park Board.

Participants can choose between two main distances:

  • 50K trail race
  • 27K trail race

The course utilizes the natural terrain of the forest. For the 50K event, there is a dedicated trekker category that allows for an earlier start. Similarly, the 27K event offers a trekker option, though participants in this category are not eligible for age group or overall awards. The entire course remains open until the late afternoon. Registration for both distances opens in early January and remains available for a limited time.

The event site provides access to various trail sections within the park. Mt. Airy Forest serves as a significant green space within the urban environment of Cincinnati, offering a wooded setting for the competition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
