Starlight Challenge: Arlington 'Owler

The event is a starlit night trail race at Arlington Court in North Devon, organised by Ilfracombe Running Club. The route passes fields and woodland on the Arlington estate and follows the same course configuration as a previous Dark Skies series event. A small part of the course uses private land.

Two distances are offered:

  • 6 km - single loop; 120 m ascent; min age 14; fee £12 (£10 affiliated)
  • 12 km - two loops; 240 m ascent; min age 17; fee £13 (£11 affiliated)

Each distance is limited to 100 entrants. A cut off applies for the 12 km option: the first loop must be completed within 50 minutes for safety. A headtorch (ideally at least 300 lumens with ample battery life) and trail shoes are mandatory. Running with dogs is not permitted.

The National Trust has waived the car parking fee from registration onwards; National Trust members are asked to scan their card so the Trust still receives a donation. The National Trust food and beverage trailer will be available for pre and post race drinks and snacks. The course will be fully marshalled and medical cover will be provided. Trail Running Association permit number 7809 is in place. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
