Starlight Challenge: Arlington 'Owler
The Starlight Challenge: Arlington 'Owler is a night trail running event on Saturday, March 14, 2026. It is the second race in the Ilfracombe Running Club Starlight Challenge series. The event is held at the National Trust's Arlington Court estate in North Devon. The route takes place on the fields and woodland trails of the estate.
The event offers two distances: a 6 km single-loop course and a 12 km two-loop course. The 6 km race starts at 19:30 and has a minimum age of 14. The 12 km race starts at 19:20 and has a minimum age of 17. Each distance is limited to 100 entrants. For safety, there is a cutoff time of 50 minutes for the first 6 km loop in the 12 km race.
Participants must bring a headtorch with ample battery life (ideally at least 300 lumens), trail shoes, and a sense of adventure. Running with dogs is not permitted.
Race headquarters and registration are at Arlington Court. Registration opens at 18:00. Race numbers must be collected on the day. Parking is provided free of charge by the National Trust for the event. A National Trust food and beverage trailer will be open before and after the race.
The course is fully marshalled and has medical cover. Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in both the 6 km and 12 km races. There are also mystery spot prizes for selected finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
