Event overview

The Vale Coastal Trail Races on 11 April 2026 are a set of linear trail races along the Vale of Glamorgan coast, finishing at Ogmore-by-Sea Village Hall.

  • 32.5 miles - point-to-point along the entire Vale of Glamorgan Coast Path
  • 18.5 miles - starts at Porthkerry Park and joins the Ultra on the shoreline
  • 10 miles - follows the final 10 miles of the longer routes

The route follows the Wales Coast Path close to the sea and passes 19 beaches. The final 14 miles run along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, which includes cliffs, rock formations, coves and rolling countryside. All races converge for the final climb to the finish at Ogmore-by-Sea Village Hall.

Logistics and entry

The route is self-navigated but well signposted. Competitors receive a marked map and detailed route notes; interactive maps and GPS files are available. A compulsory kit list must be carried. Manned checkpoints are provided (Ultra: 5; 18.5: 3; 10: 2) offering water, energy drinks, squash and light food such as biscuits, sweets, oranges and crisps. Drop bags left at the start will be transported to the finish.

This is a linear event so transport options include event buses from Ogmore-by-Sea to the starts and parking at Ogmore-by-Sea Rivermouth Car Park (CF32 0PR). Coach places must be reserved during registration; coach transport is priced at £10. Entry fees are: Ultra £46, Trail 18.5 £36, Trail 10 £33. Spaces available: 300 Ultra, 300 Trail 18.5, 200 Trail 10. Entry includes checkpoints, a finisher medal, electronic timing, emergency first aid and race photographs.
