The Maverick Exmoor X-Trail 2027
The Maverick Exmoor X-Trail takes place at Caffyns Farm near Lynton within Exmoor National Park on Saturday 1 May 2027. Routes start from the farm and quickly join the South West Coast Path, then sweep inland through valleys and woodland.
The course runs along exposed coastal cliffs with views across the Bristol Channel toward South Wales, passes the Valley of Rocks, and continues through ancient woodland, rivers and waterfalls. Terrain includes moorland, steep climbs, technical descents and rugged surfaces that require careful footing.
Available routes:
- 50k Ultra - 56 km, +2774 m
- Marathon - 42 km, +2223 m
- Half Marathon - 21 km, +1128 m
- Middle - 15 km, +803 m
- Short - 5 km, +207 m
Facilities include free parking, a fully marked and timed course, precision fuel and hydration outposts, online results, event photography, bag drop, a metal finishers medal and food and drink options. Camping is available onsite at Caffyns Farm. Outposts offer snacks, gels and electrolyte drinks and are aiming to be cup free so runners should bring a cup or bottle.
Organisers strongly recommend all runners carry at least 1 litre of water, a raincoat, a foil blanket and a mobile phone. For the 50k Ultra and Marathon the following items are mandatory: waterproof jacket, mobile phone, 800 calories of food, minimum 1 litre water, self adhesive elastic bandage, whistle, foil blanket, hat or buff, a reusable cup and a GPX copy of the route.
Cut off points apply on the Ultra and Marathon routes to manage safety and allow completion within the organiser cut off windows. A portion of every entry fee is donated to CareMoor. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
