North Coast 110 and Exmoor Coast Ultra

The North Coast 110 is a multi-distance trail running event that follows the South West Coast Path along the northern edge of the South West peninsula. The event includes five distinct distances, ranging from a 38 km challenge to a 110 mile ultra marathon. All routes require self-navigation, and participants are provided with GPS tracking for the duration of their run.

The courses traverse diverse coastal terrain, including the steep cliffs of Hartland Quay, the village of Clovelly, and the estuaries of the Torridge and Taw. The routes continue through the Exmoor National Park, which features the highest sea cliff in England and Wales at Great Hangman and the highest point on the coastline at Culbone Hill. While much of the terrain involves significant elevation changes, sections near Westward Ho! and Barnstaple offer flatter surfaces on tarmac and estuary paths.

Participants can choose from the following distances:

  • 110 Miles: Starts at Hartland Quay with approximately 6,000m elevation gain; requires a 50km finish.
  • 114 km (110 km Ultra): Begins in Barnstaple, featuring a night start and passing through Braunton Burrows.
  • 65 km (Hartland Coast): Starts at Hartland Quay and concludes in Barnstaple, joining the 110 mile route.
  • 58 km (Exmoor Coast): Traverses the length of Exmoor National Park from Combe Martin to Minehead.
  • 38 km (Exmoor Coast Challenge): Open to runners and walkers, starting at Lynton Cricket Club.

The event provides transport from the finish locations back to the various start lines before the races begin. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
