North Coast 110 / Exmoor Coast Ultra
The North Coast 110 / Exmoor Coast Ultra is a multi-distance trail running event held along the northern coast of the South West peninsula. The routes follow the South West Coast Path, traversing the coastline through Devon and Exmoor National Park. The various courses finish at the South West Coast Path Monument in Minehead.
Participants can choose from five different distances:
- North Coast 110 Mile Ultra: Includes nearly 6,000m of elevation gain from Hartland Quay to Minehead.
- North Coast 110 KM Ultra: Starting in Barnstaple, this route includes coastal sections around Baggy Point and Woolacombe.
- Hartland Coast Ultra (65 km): A route from Hartland Quay to Barnstaple featuring hilly terrain and coastal views.
- Exmoor Coast Ultra (58 km): Traversing Exmoor National Park from Combe Martin to Minehead.
- Exmoor Coast Challenge (38 km): The final section of the route starting from Lynton.
The 110 mile distance requires evidence of a previous 50+ km event for entry. This route includes hilly sections near Hartland Point, views of Lundy island, and passage through Clovelly and Westward Ho! before joining a flatter section around the Torridge and Taw estuaries.
The Exmoor section of the course features the highest sea cliff in the country at Great Hangman and the highest point on the coastline at Culbone Hill. This segment as well as the 38 km challenge are open to both runners and walkers. Pre-event transport to the various start locations is available for participants.
