Barney to Beach: 20 Years of Hope takes place on 13 September 2026. The event starts at Barnstaple Pannier Market (EX31 1SY) and follows a route to Crow Point along the Tarka Trail and dunes. The organiser is Families in Grief. Entries open 1 January 2026 and close 11 September 2026.

Courses and entry

  • 8 miles - full course from Barnstaple to Crow Point.
  • 1 mile - children's fun run across the dunes to the beach.

The Children's Race is for ages 5 to 15. A Family Ticket allows under-16s to take part in the full course with a parent or carer. Entry fees listed include £26.50 for the 8-mile individual entry, £100.00 for a four-person 8-mile team, and £7.50 for the children's race. Entry fees are non-refundable. There is a cut-off time; participants who finish after it will no longer be part of the event.

On-site facilities and logistics

All finishers receive a medal. An event village near the finish will include live music, refreshments, and children's entertainment; it is about a five-minute walk from the finish area. Walkers may take part. Dogs are allowed only for walkers, not for runners. The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs due to the terrain. A fully supported winter challenge on 21 February 2026 with 50 km and 30 km routes across remote Dartmoor; the route is unmarked, guided support and GPX files are provided.

A starlit night trail at Arlington Court in North Devon, organised by Ilfracombe Running Club, with 6 km and 12 km loop options. Mandatory headtorch and trail shoes, age limits apply, and a 50 minute first-loop cut off for the 12 km.

A 10 mile multi-terrain trail race and a 5k fun run in mid Devon, held from Templeton Village Hall, with off-road terrain, three on-course water stations, technical vests for Fury entrants and a four hour cut off.

Steaming to the Coast pairs scenic steam train travel with coastal and hilltop trail running from Minehead. Choose from 11 km, 11 mile or marathon routes that return to Minehead for a memorable seaside finish.
