Barney to Beach: 20 Years of Hope

Barney to Beach is an annual community run organised by Families in Grief to mark the charity's 20th anniversary. The event follows an established route from Barnstaple Pannier Market along the Tarka Trail to Crow Point, covering eight miles of North Devon countryside and finishing across the dunes on the beach.

There are two race options:

  • 8 miles full course from Barnstaple Pannier Market to Crow Point
  • 1 mile Children's Race for ages 5 to 15

Under 5s should be accompanied by an adult for the children's race. Under 16s may take part in the full event if accompanied by an adult. Medals are provided for all finishers. Walkers are welcome and dogs may join only those walking the course. The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs because of the terrain.

The event includes an event village near the finish with live music, refreshments, and children's entertainment. Parking is available at Crow Point with a small toll. Entry fees are published for adults, teams, and children and are non-refundable. The event also acts as a fundraising effort, with a target to raise £20,000 for Families in Grief as part of the 20 Years of Hope campaign.
