Barney to Beach: 20 Years of Hope

Barney to Beach is an eight mile community run from Barnstaple Pannier Market to Crow Point following the Tarka Trail and finishing across the dunes on Crow Point beach. The event is set for 13 September 2026 and marks the 20th anniversary of Families in Grief.

Distances

  • 8 miles full course from Barnstaple Pannier Market to Crow Point
  • 1 mile children's race across the dunes to the beach

The children's race is for ages 5 to 15 and there is a family ticket option for two adults and up to four children. Medals are provided for all finishers. An event village near the finish, about a five minute walk from the beach, will include live music, refreshments, and children's entertainment.

Participants may walk or run and walkers are welcome. The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs due to terrain. Dogs may join only when walking the course. Transport options include parking at Sandy Lane with a coach into Barnstaple or parking in Barnstaple with a coach return; participants can indicate preferences when registering.

Entry fees listed for the event are non refundable. Standard fees include £26.50 for an individual 8 mile entry, £100 for a team of four, and £7.50 for the children's race. Teams that commit to raising a minimum of £500 may have registration fees waived. Funds raised support bereaved children and young people across North Devon and Torridge.
