Barney to Beach: 20 Years of Hope

Barney to Beach 2026 follows the established route from Barnstaple Pannier Market to Crow Point. The event covers eight miles along the Tarka Trail and finishes across the dunes at Crow Point. The occasion also marks the 20 Years of Hope campaign supporting Families in Grief and aims to raise funds for bereaved children and young people in North Devon and Torridge.

Distances available:

  • 1 mile children's race across the dunes towards the beach

The children's race is for ages 5 to 15; under 5s should be accompanied by an adult. Under 16s may take part in the full event if accompanied by an adult. All finishers receive a medal. Entry fees listed include an adult fee for the eight mile event and a separate fee for the children's race; team and individual adult rates are given.

An event village near the finish will include live music, refreshments, and children's entertainment. Transport options include parking at Sandy Lane with a coach into Barnstaple or parking in Barnstaple with a coach back from the finish; participants indicate preferences when registering. The course is unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs due to terrain. Dogs are permitted only for walkers. Entry fees are non-refundable.
