Barney to Beach: 20 Years of Hope

Barney to Beach takes place on 13 September 2026 and follows the established route from Barnstaple Pannier Market to Crow Point. The course runs along the Tarka Trail through North Devon countryside and finishes across sand dunes on the beach.

Distances

  • 8 miles full course from Barnstaple Pannier Market to Crow Point
  • 1 mile Children's Race across the dunes for ages 5 to 15

Entry fees are stated for this event: adult entry for the eight miles is £26.50, team entries charged at £25.00 per person, and the children’s race is £7.50. Entries open on 1 January 2026 and close on 11 September 2026.

All finishers receive a medal. An event village near the finish will feature live music, refreshments, and children’s entertainment; the village is a short walk from the finish area. Walkers are welcome. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs because of the terrain. Dogs are permitted only for people walking the course. Transport options include parking with coach services between Sandy Lane and Barnstaple; participants indicate preferences when registering.

The event supports Families in Grief and is combined with the 20 Years of Hope fundraising campaign, which aims to raise £20,000 for local bereaved children and young people. Teams that commit to a minimum fundraising target may have registration fees waived. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
