Event Overview

The Stanza Stones Summer Edition is a 50-mile linear ultra-marathon route connecting Marsden and Ilkley in the South Pennines. The event features over 6800 feet of ascent.

Route and Landmarks

The route visits all six Stanza Stones, a series of poems about water carved into rocks by artist Pip Hall. It also passes through the village of Haworth. The path covers high moorland and valleys, following sections of the Pennine Way and passing landmarks like Stoodley Pike and Ilkley Moor.

Event Logistics

The start is at Marsden Cricket Club (HD7 6NN) and the finish is at Ben Rhydding Primary School in Ilkley (LS29 8QH). An optional coach transfer from Ilkley to Marsden is available on the morning of the event. Registration is available the night before at the finish location and on the morning at the start. Free camping is available at the finish school on Friday and Saturday nights.

Support and Amenities

There are three indoor checkpoints providing food, located in Mytholmroyd, Haworth, and Bingley. The event uses OpenTracking for live coverage. Finishers receive a memento and have access to changing rooms. An optional finisher's meal and quality cotton T-shirt are available. The minimum age to participate is 20 years.
