Stanza Stones Summer Edition
The Stanza Stones Summer Edition is a 50-mile linear ultra route in West Yorkshire. It runs from Marsden to Ilkley, crossing the South Pennine moorlands. The route includes over 6,600 feet of ascent and passes the historical village of Haworth. The finish is over Ilkley Moor.
The event is named for the six Stanza Stones located along the route. Each stone bears a poem by Simon Armitage inscribed into it. The poems are connected to the theme of water, with each stone named: Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle, and Beck.
Participants have 24 hours to complete the course. The event includes live tracking, three indoor checkpoints with food and drink, and a finishers meal. There is an optional coach service from Ilkley to the start in Marsden for a fee. Registration is available at either the start or finish location.
The minimum age for entry is 20 years. Entry fees apply, with a discount for UKA members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
