The Stanza Stones Summer Edition is a 24-hour, 50-mile linear route with over 6,600 ft of ascent. The route starts in Marsden, West Yorkshire, and finishes in Ilkley. Runners visit six Stanza Stones along the way; each stone carries a short poem and has a name connected to water: Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle and Beck. The course crosses moorland of the South Pennines and passes the village of Haworth before rising over Ilkley Moor near the finish.
Logistics and entries
The event takes place on 6 June 2026 and is organised by CraggRunner. Entries open 19 July 2025 and close 24 May 2026. The minimum age to enter is 20 years. Entry fees are listed for UKA members and non-members, with a higher fee applying from 1 October 2025. At the time of publication six participants were entered. Included for participants are live tracking, three indoor checkpoints with food and drink, and a finisher’s meal; changing rooms are available at the finish. There is an option to register at either the Marsden or Ilkley end. Optional extras include a coach from Ilkley to Marsden and a purchasable cotton t-shirt; transport after finishing is not included.
