Staffs Knot 5 Mile and Fun Run

The event is an annual off road running meeting organised by Stafford Harriers at Cannock Chase Visitors Centre, Marquis Drive, Hednesford. It comprises a main 5 mile race and a 2 mile fun run.

  • 5 mile main race
  • 2 mile fun run

The fun run route uses tarmac and gravel and can have mud washed onto the surface. The main race follows a mix of trails and pathways, including wooded sections that can be wet or muddy. Participants choose footwear at their own discretion. The course was officially measured and certified in 2017 and a revised route was introduced in 2025 to avoid a grazing area. A full course map and the measurement certificate are available.

The event holds a UK Athletics race licence and forms part of the NSRRA race series with points and race prizes. The main race is chip timed with live results. Prizes include individual, team and age category awards, trophies for first under 19 male and female, a bespoke finisher medal and a low alcohol beer for main race finishers. Course record prizes for men and women carry a cash award. Entry limits and fees are published for each race and race numbers and timing chips are collected at registration on the night. Sponsors for recent years include Purity Brewery and JC Race Timing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
