The Swan Challenge is a six-hour trail event organised by Big Bear Events at Coombe Abbey Park, Coventry (CV3 2AB). Entrants aged 17 and over on the event date may run, hike or walk over a fixed lap repeatedly during the six-hour limit. The event has been staged previously by the organiser.

Course and logistics

The lap at Coombe Abbey Park is 3.3 miles and is described as relatively flat. Most of the route follows stone pathways with a meadow section on open grassland that may be muddy depending on recent weather. The route gpx is published and the course may be subject to last-minute changes; the route will be marked on the day. There is a cafe and a toilet block next to the event headquarters. Parking on site costs up to £5 depending on length of stay. The park is managed by Coventry City Council; the closest train station is Coventry.

Entries, fees and extras

The organiser operates tiered entry pricing and charges an extra fee for unaffiliated entrants. Participants can optionally donate to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity; donations made during sign-up are stated to go 100% to the charity. Canicross is not permitted; rucking is allowed. Run a fast, accurately measured 10K at Northampton Racecourse Park on 11 January, three laps of scenic pathways with trophies and a bespoke medal. The family friendly race supports Umbrella Fair Northampton and accepts on the day entries.
