Sphinx AC Coombe 8
The event takes place on Sunday 22nd November at Coombe Abbey on the outskirts of Coventry. Two distances are offered and entries close 23:59 on Thursday 19th November. The event has a capacity of 400 places; 101 entries were recorded.
The course is multi terrain with wooded trails and undulating farmland. Both distances begin with a small loop in the "sheep field" that includes a dip in and out of WWII bomb craters, then run down the main drive towards the Abbey and over mini hurdles. Runners cross bridges and enter the woods for a clockwise lap of the main site, pass through the river, then run around the large central field counter clockwise and drop down under the Go Ape area to a wooden bridge. There is a water station before the 8 km route heads back; the 8 mile route completes the central loop once more before rejoining. The final section returns toward the visitor centre, passes the start for a short out and back, and finishes where hot chocolate is served.
All finishers receive a race memento and hot chocolate. Prizes are awarded to the first three finishers and age category winners in the 8 mile race. A mobile medical crew will be on standby. Drone footage may be recorded and made available after the event, weather dependent.
- 8 mile main course with an extra central loop through woods and fields.
- 5 mile (8 km) shorter route rejoining the main course before the finish.
Entry fees: 8 mile £27 (£25 for EA affiliated runners), 5 mile £22 (£20 for EA affiliated runners). Prices rise on 22nd October for late entries. No entries are accepted after 19th November. The organiser operates a no refund policy but allows transfers and deferrals if completed before the closing date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
