Sphinx AC Coombe 8 - 2026
A multi terrain event at Coombe Abbey on the outskirts of Coventry offering an 8 mile course and an 8 km option. The course mixes wooded trails and undulating farm land and starts with a small loop through the "sheep field" that includes a dip in and out of WWII bomb craters before running down the main drive towards the Abbey.
Both routes pass over small hurdles and bridges into the woods for a clockwise lap of the main site, including a river crossing, then around the large central field counter clockwise and beneath the Go Ape area back to a wooden bridge. A water station sits before the 8 km route returns over the bridges; the 8 mile route completes the central loop once more before rejoining and returning toward the visitor centre for a short out and back to the finish.
Race headquarters is outside the main visitor centre at Coombe. A mobile medical crew will be on standby. Drone footage will be captured by Coventry Drone Academy and may be available after the event, weather dependent. All finishers receive a race memento and hot chocolate. Prizes are awarded to the first three finishers and age category winners in the 8 mile race only.
Entry fees are: 8 mile £27 (£25 EA affiliated) and 5 mile £22 (£20 EA affiliated). Prices rise on 22 October. Entries close 23:59 on Thursday 19 November. Refunds are not offered but entries may be transferred or deferred as credit minus processing fees if completed before the closing date.
