Sphinx AC Coombe 8 - 2026
A running event at Coombe Abbey on Sunday 22 November 2026 offering two off-road distances across wooded trails and undulating farmland on the outskirts of Coventry. The course uses historic parkland and includes a mix of trail surfaces.
The route begins with a small loop in the "sheep field" that passes in and out of WWII bomb craters, then follows the main drive toward the abbey, over mini hurdles, across bridges and into the woods for a clockwise lap. Runners experience a river dip, a large central field run counter clockwise, a drop beneath the Go Ape adventure area and a return over a wooden bridge. There is a water station on course; the 5 mile route returns after the water station while the 8 mile route completes an additional central loop before rejoining and returning toward the visitor centre and finish. All finishers receive a race memento and hot chocolate.
Race HQ is outside the main visitor centre at Coombe. Entries close 23:59 on Thursday 19 November 2026 and the event has a capacity of 400 entries (148 entered at the time of listing). A mobile medical crew will be on standby. Prizes are awarded to the first three finishers and age category winners in the 8 mile race. The organiser operates a no refund policy but allows entry transfers or deferrals for credit minus processing fees, provided these are completed before the closing date.
