Sphinx AC Coombe 8 - 2026
Sphinx AC Coombe 8 is a multi-terrain running event at Coombe Abbey on the outskirts of Coventry, held on Sunday 22nd November 2026. The course combines wooded trails, undulating farmland and a start loop across the "sheep field" that includes a dip through WWII bomb craters. Runners follow the main drive past the abbey, cross bridges into the woods for a clockwise lap, run through a shallow river crossing, then continue around a large central field in a counterclockwise direction before dropping under the Go Ape area and returning via a wooden bridge.
A water station serves runners before the shorter route returns over the bridges, while the longer route completes an additional central loop that reuses the woods, river and field. Both routes rejoin for a short out-and-back section past the start and finish, where participants receive a race memento and hot chocolate.
Entries close 23:59 on Thursday 19th November and the event has a stated capacity of 400 entries. Entry fees are set at the same level as the previous year: 8 mile £27 (£25 EA affiliated) and 5 mile £22 (£20 EA affiliated), with prices rising for late entries on 22nd October. Prizes are awarded to the first three finishers and to age category winners in the 8 mile race. A mobile medical crew will be on standby and drone footage may be captured for viewing after the event. Transfers and deferrals are possible through the event entry system subject to the closing date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
