St Edmund Way Ultra

The St Edmund Way Ultra is a new winter ultramarathon scheduled for 5 December 2026. The course covers 80 miles and runs through Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk. The event is organised by Challenge Running Ltd. Organisers state that many details are still being finalised and that published information may be revised.

Course, support and entry

Planned locations include a start at Manningtree (TBC) and a finish at Brandon (TBC). Checkpoint cut-offs are listed at approximately:

  • CP1: 17 miles
  • CP2: 28 miles
  • CP3: 45 miles
  • CP4: 63 miles

There is a finish cut-off of 28 hours. Tracking will be provided by Open Tracking and will include an emergency SOS function; tracker details will be shared before the race.

A mandatory kit list specifies key items participants must carry, including: the ability to carry at least 1 litre of fluids, waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, a headtorch of at least 100 lumens with enough battery for a full night, a charged mobile phone, a spare long-sleeve base layer, a survival bag or foil bivvy, at least 1000 calories of food from the start, warm hat, gloves, and route maps or a GPS device.

Entries are open now, close two weeks before the race, and are open to entrants aged 18 or over on 05/12/2026. Early-entry pricing: first 25 entrants £80, next 25 entrants £100, then £120 thereafter. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
