St Edmund Way Ultra

St Edmund Way Ultra is a new winter ultramarathon scheduled for 5 December 2026. The event is an 80 mile route that passes through Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk. Many logistical details remain under final review and are subject to change.

Entries are open and will close two weeks before the race date. Transfer and deferral requests have a cut-off four weeks before the race. Entry fees follow a dynamic pricing scheme: the first 25 entrants pay £80, the next 25 pay £100, and subsequent entries pay £120.

Cut-off points and overall time limit are listed as approximate and subject to confirmation:

  • CP1 cut-off - approx 17 miles
  • CP2 cut-off - approx 28 miles
  • CP3 cut-off - approx 45 miles
  • CP4 cut-off - approx 63 miles
  • Finish cut-off - 28 hours

Start and finish locations are currently listed as Manningtree and Brandon respectively, both to be confirmed. Parking, transport and some facilities are pending final details. Tracking will be provided via Open Tracking and includes an emergency SOS function; tracker details will be shared shortly before the race.

A mandatory kit list requires runners to carry a minimum of 1 litre of fluids, waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, a headtorch of at least 100 lumens with night-long battery life, a fully charged mobile phone at the start, a spare long sleeve base layer, a survival bag or foil bivvy, at least 1000 calories of food from the start, a warm hat, gloves, and maps or a GPS device.
