The St Edmund Way Ultra is a new winter ultra scheduled for 5 December 2026. The race covers 80 miles and follows a route through Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk. The planned start location is Manningtree and the planned finish is Brandon; these locations are marked as to be confirmed. Organisers state that event timings, route details and facilities are still being finalised and are subject to change.

Practical information

Checkpoints are planned at approximately 17, 28, 45 and 63 miles, and there is a finish time limit of 28 hours. Entries are open now, close two weeks before the race date, and transfer or deferral cut-off is four weeks before the race date. The event uses a dynamic pricing scheme: the first 25 entrants pay £80, the next 25 pay £100, and subsequent entries pay £120. Live tracking will be provided by partner Open Tracking with public tracking and an emergency SOS function. A mandatory kit list includes the ability to carry at least 1 litre of fluids; waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams; a headtorch of at least 100 lumens with battery life for a full night; a fully charged mobile phone; a spare long sleeve base layer; a survival bag or foil emergency bivvy; at least 1000 calories of food at the start; warm hat and gloves; and maps or a GPS device.
