Spring Creek Memorial Trail Run
This race is held in memory of a person who was struck and killed by a truck along the lower part of the trail in 1991. The event is intended as a reminder of the importance of sharing multi-purpose use trails.
The race takes place on the Spring Creek trail near the Spring Creek Reservoir and the gazebo on Spring Creek Road on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
Distances:
- 9.5 mile loop on primitive trail, two track, single track and brief forest service road
- 5k out and back on rolling two track and single track
The 9.5 mile course climbs about 1,750 ft in the first four miles, with most gain between miles two and four. That section follows unimproved, rocky and narrow single track and crosses several large downed trees before descending to a smoother rolling downhill trail. The loop provides at least a dozen stream crossings over bridges. The 5k follows the Spring Creek trail out and back.
There will be one fully stocked aid station for the 9.5 mile race at about four miles at the Dry Lake parking area. The 5k will have no aid station, but a volunteer will be posted at the turnaround. The race is cupless at start and finish and participants are encouraged to use hand held bottles or hydration packs.
Walkers are welcome and encouraged on the 5k but not on the 9.5 mile course due to limited accessibility and finish time constraints. Pets are not allowed in the 9.5 mile race because of the tight primitive trail on private land. Parking is limited, parking at the reservoir is not permitted, and a walk of about 0.4 miles to the start is required. Entry numbers are capped by the US Forest Service. A limited number of event shirts are offered for a fee and awards are given for first through third place male and female finishers; a prize raffle follows the awards.
