Continental Divide Trail Run

The Continental Divide Trail Run in Steamboat Springs offers three distances: a 50k, a 16 mile race, and a 5 mile course. The event starts and finishes on the Torian Plum Lawn in front of Slopeside Grill. Proceeds are donated to the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund.

Distances:

  • 50k - 9 hour cutoff, maximum 200 runners
  • 16 mile - 7 hour cutoff, maximum 200 runners
  • 5 mile

The 50k is just over 29.5 miles, begins near 7,000 ft elevation and climbs above 10,400 ft. Aid stations are located at Rainbow Saddle, Mt. Werner Summit, Long Lake, Mt. Werner, and the finish. The 16 mile course is just under 16 miles, starts near 7,000 ft and climbs above 10,350 ft with aid at Rainbow Saddle and Mt. Werner Summit. The 5 mile course is just under 5 miles and has an elevation change of about 1,000 ft; there are no aid stations on the 5 mile course.

This is a cupless race; no cups will be provided at aid stations. Runners must carry their own hydration device and consider carrying fuel and a light shell. Crewing is allowed only at the Rainbow Saddle Aid Station and access is by foot, bike, or gondola. There is no vehicle access to any part of the course. Organizers recommend carpooling and provide free and paid parking options near the start area.
