Continental Divide Trail Run - Steamboat Springs Running Series
The Continental Divide Trail Run is a trail running event in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, held Saturday, August 29, 2026. The race starts and finishes on the Torian Plum Lawn in front of Slopeside Grill. Proceeds are donated to the Trail Maintenance Endowment Fund. The series operates under a special uses permit on the Routt National Forest.
Distances:
- 50k - 9 hour cutoff; maximum 200 runners
- 16 mile - 7 hour cutoff; maximum 200 runners
- 5 mile - no aid stations
The 50k course is just over 29.5 miles, begins and ends at about 7,000 ft and climbs to over 10,400 ft. Aid stations are located at Rainbow Saddle (mile 6 and 25), Mt. Werner Summit (mile 8), Long Lake (mile 15), Mt. Werner (mile 22) and the finish. The 16 mile course is just under 16 miles, climbs to over 10,350 ft, and uses Rainbow Saddle and Mt. Werner aid stations. The 5 mile course is just under 5 miles with an elevation change of about 1,000 ft and has no aid stations.
This is a cupless race; no cups will be available at aid stations and participants must carry their own hydration device or cup. Collapsible cups may be available at packet pickup. Leashed dogs are allowed on the 5 mile course only. Packet pickup is available Friday afternoon at Ski Haus and on race morning at the start. Awards, finisher mugs for the 50k and 16 mile, a prize raffle and a post-race taco bar for registered participants are held on the Torian Plum Lawn. Parking options include a free lot with a 0.5 mile walk, nearby paid garages, the Torian Plum parking garage under the start area, or local transit.
