Emerald Mountain Trail Run
The Emerald Mountain Trail Run takes place at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs and includes trail routes through aspen lined single track. The event marks the end of the Steamboat Springs Running Series pointed season and series winners will be announced; awards will be presented outside Olympian Hall and a raffle follows the awards.
Distances offered:
- 12k (roughly 7.75 miles)
- 4 mile run or hike
Both routes start at the base of Howelsen Hill behind Olympian Hall and use local trails such as Robbie’s, Mile Run, Blackmere, Lupine, and the Bluffs. The 12k route follows a longer circuit that includes Larry’s, the Quarry, Little Moab, and a loop on the Bluffs. The 4 mile course follows Blackmere to Lupine and returns via the Bluffs and park areas.
Hikers are welcome on the 12k and should yield to faster runners by pulling to the side. Much of the course is on narrow trails, so pets are not ideal for this race and must be leashed while in the city park. Headphones are not encouraged. Packet pick up and in-person registration are available at Olympian Hall on race day. A T-shirt option is available for a fee but availability is limited after September 19.
