The 10k @ 10,000 Feet is a challenging trail running event held at the summit of Rabbit Ears Pass near Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Known for its breathtaking mountain scenery, the race features a course starting at 10,000 feet elevation, with about 1,200 feet of elevation gain and loss. The main race covers nearly 6.8 miles (slightly longer than a standard 10k), beginning with uphill sections on dirt roads and two-track trails, then descending on single-track and cross-country trails.
A 5k option is also available. The event is celebrated for its beautiful terrain and was voted Colorado's best 10k by Colorado Runner Magazine in 2010. Proceeds benefit Steamboat Nordic. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
