This trail running event takes place at the summit of the old Rabbit Ears Pass Road in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The race starts at an elevation of 10,000 feet at the Monument Parking lot. The terrain consists of United States Forest Service (USFS) dirt roads, two-track paths, and single-track trails.

The event offers two distinct distances:

  • 6.8 miles (approximately 11 km)
  • 4 miles (approximately 6.4 km)

The longer course begins by heading uphill on dirt roads and two-track sections. This is followed by a downhill segment on single-track trails, with the race concluding on cross-country single-track. The total elevation gain for the longer distance is approximately 1,200 feet, with a corresponding elevation loss of approximately 1,200 feet.

Participants on the 6.8 mile course have access to one aid station located approximately 3.4 miles into the route. There is no aid station provided for the 4 mile race. It is recommended that runners carry their own water. The event is held within the scenic environment of Rabbit Ears Pass, featuring high-altitude terrain and natural forest landscapes.
