The Emerald Mountain Epic is a two day mountain bike and trail running event in Steamboat Springs. The event is scheduled for August 8 and 9, 2026, and directs 100 percent of race proceeds to two local nonprofits, Partners for Youth and Routt County Riders.

Races take place on dirt singletrack and include multi distance options for bikers and runners. The full event layout is described as 100 percent dirt and about 90 percent singletrack. Races begin at Howelsen Hill Ski Area and travel into Routt County backcountry through meadows, aspen forests and sage gardens. The full bike event is composed of two 26.2 mile loops.

Distances include:

  • Mountain Bike Solo: 52 miles, approximately 6,600 (or 3,300) feet elevation gain.
  • Duo Relay: Teams of two, one 26 mile lap each, about 3,300 feet gain.
