Spooner Lake 5K and 10K

The Spooner Lake 5K and 10K take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026. The start and finish location is at Spooner Lake in Nevada's Lake Tahoe State Park. The event is part of a larger running day that also includes a 10-mile and a 50K race.

The courses are scenic single-track trails that circle Spooner Lake. The area is described as being nestled in the Lake Tahoe Basin, surrounded by aspen trees and over 12,000 acres of forested, open space. The 5K has an aid station at mile 1 and at the finish. The 10K has aid stations at miles 1 and 3.5, and at the finish. These stations offer water and electrolyte drink.

Discounts are available for clubs, teams, challenged athletes, and military personnel via email request. A 5K snowshoe walk and race at Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe on March 1, 2026. The machine groomed course crosses forest and mountain meadows and the event benefits Metavivor, a metastatic breast cancer organization.
