Trail Running at Escape From Prison Hill

Escape From Prison Hill features a series of trail races held at Silver Saddle Ranch. Participants can choose from three distinct distances, each offering varying levels of elevation and terrain. The event is capped at 200 total runners, and registration remains open until the field is full.

The event offers the following distances:

  • 22 km: Includes approximately 3150 feet of elevation gain over winding single track with scenic vistas.
  • 11 km: Features approximately 1600 feet of vertical gain, including the North Loop and Odyssey Trail.
  • 5 km: A course with over 700 feet of elevation that serves as an introduction to trail running.

The 22 km course includes a significant climb known as Dead Truck, which gains 750 feet over 1.5 miles, as well as steep sections on the south end with grades ranging from 10% to 32%. This distance has specific time cutoffs based on an 18:00 per mile pace. Runners in the 22 km race have access to two aid stations located at the 8-mile and 11.5-mile marks, which provide water, electrolytes, and snacks.

Runners in the 11 km and 5 km events must be self-sufficient as there are no aid stations on these courses. All participants across all distances receive a finishers medal, while the top male and female finishers in each category receive special awards. Packet pickup takes place on the morning of the event at the race location. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
