Spark the FREEdom URC Member Social Event

This is a member-only Fourth of July social at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina. The gathering takes place on July 4, 2026 at 220 Lakewood Drive. Membership in the Upstate Running Club is required for participation and that membership covers family members and guests.

The program includes an optional 3K fun run followed by a post-run social and a potluck-style dinner. Some food and drinks will be provided, including hotdogs and a few community coolers. Participants are welcome to bring a food dish to share and additional beverages for the community coolers. There is no power on site for crock pots and lighting will be limited after sundown. There is also no on-site water.

Overnight camping is available for a fee. Camping is offered at a $25 charge per participant. Registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes on July 4, 2026; fees vary by option with a free attendance option and a paid camping option. The preserve offers open parking, nature trails, wildlife viewing, and wide open sky.

Attendees are advised to bring a chair and plan for a casual, outdoor evening with running, food, and community time in a natural setting. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

Trail runs nearby

A repeat-lap trail event in Enoree, SC on July 11, 2026 where runners may complete up to ten 5K laps, each offered at regular intervals. Organized by G.O.A.T. Trail Running, the format has no eliminations or official podiums.

A 7K trail race at Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville SC with a moderate course that follows Lake Placid Trail, Mountain Creek Trail and park roads, finishing at Shelter 3. Registration opens December 21 2025.

Experience trail running near the Blue Ridge Mountains with 15K and 5K races at Table Rock State Park. Navigate creek crossings and climbs toward Pinnacle Mountain to earn finisher awards and enjoy mountain views.

Community 5K at Easley High School with a kids mile for sixth grade and below, t-shirt guarantee for early registrants, and proceeds supporting the school cross country and track program.
